My son throws me a curveball every now and then, and when he came home for a visit and asked me to make him avocado toast for breakfast, I thought he lost his mind, but then I ate it….
So you think you know how to make avocado toast? Well, you might, as long as you have had it before. Think about it, if you have never heard of avocado toast before, and someone asked you to make it for them, what would you do?
You probably would make toast with some sort of bread and then spread some avocado on it and hand it to them, right? Let’s not be that basic.

Making an avocado toast is simple and easy, but get a little creative. I love this simple avocado toast recipe because it’s based on my favorite guacamole recipe, only served on toast. I’m going to call it toasted bread because I don’t own a toaster. I use the broiler setting in my oven to make toast. I can give you a thousand reasons why, but that’s for a bottle of wine one night…
This all started because my son Nicholas lives in a trendy city in the south. He came home for a visit a few years ago and asked me to make avocado toast for breakfast. I thought he was nuts.
So I put the bread I had in the oven to toast it, took an avocado, cubed it, then spread it on the bread. It did not look appetizing, so I added a few other things to it. Warmed it back up and gave it to him for breakfast.
He enjoyed it and continued to tell me everything I did wrong with it. You see, the restaurant he serves at has it on their menu.
Touche’, I accept the challenge and will create the BEST, easiest avocado toast recipe you have ever had. I did just that and have it all laid out for you here.
As with all my recipes, the ingredients matter. It’s the quality and flavor of the ingredients that blend together to give just the right taste and texture. I am using the Food For Life Ezekiel Sprouted Whole Grain Bread because one) it’s flourless, and two) it’s by far the best tasting whole grain bread I have ever had.
This Avocado Toast Recipe Is Outrageously Delicious
Ingredients
- 2 slices toasted, Food For Life Ezekiel Sprouted Whole Grain Bread (bread freezes very well)
- 1 small clove crushed garlic
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 small plum tomato chopped
- ¼ small white onion chopped
- 1 TBSP black beans (left-over beans freeze very well)
- 1 TBSP sheep’s milk feta cheese
- ¼ tsp dried cilantro
- 1 small lime
- 1 squirt Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
Instructions
- Toast 2 slices Food For Life Ezekiel Sprouted Whole Grain Bread.
- Spread ½ clove of the crushed garlic on each slice.
- Cut the avocado in half using a spoon, scoop ½ avocado out, and spread it on 1 toasted slice.
- Repeat with the other half of the avocado and the other slice of avocado toast.
- Take the chopped tomato and sprinkle it on each slice of avocado toast.
- Take the chopped onion and sprinkle it on each slice of avocado toast.
- Sprinkle the black beans between both avocado toast slices.
- Sprinkle the sheep’s milk feta cheese between both avocado toast slices.
- Sprinkle the dried cilantro between both avocado toast slices.
- Squeeze the lime juice over both avocado toast slices.
- Drizzle with Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce.
